Movie Madness

It’s that time again; when Americans release big effects movies with little to do with serious or realistic stories. Yes, it is summer and boy have they got a line up for the ages. Last year may have set a new record in cheap thrill movies that this year might be looking to break.
The Summer Block buster season has started well off thanks to Fast and the Furious 5. Yes, it’s a sequel and sequels are bad, bad things at number five but surprisingly, Fast 5 does remarkably better than the fourth installment. Brazil does have its appeal and Dwayne The Rock Johnson is at his best in this movie but does not steal away from the comeback cast of Tyrese, Vin and Paul.
Playing alongside Fast 5 is Thor. He is an ancient god who wields power through his hammer. After some conflict on Mount Olympus aka heaven, he is thrown down to earth. Despite initial assumptions thanks to the poster, Thor is not based in ancient Greco-Roman times. The movie is based in present day. It has gained a lot of critical favor although most audiences have regarded it as not living up to its hype.
Both movies should be watched big screen especially by those who pride themselves as movie buffs. They are showing at Fox Sarit in 3D and at 20th Century Fox Plaza. The Pirates of the Carribean 4: The Stranger Tides starts this Friday 20th/ May at all Fox cinemas including Capital Centre. All this and it’s just May.
